I'm not gonna lie: Eating this cake was kind of creepy. I prefer to make small animals now to put on the cakes instead of making the animal the cake. I did this with rice crispie treats. They are easy to mold and hold up well to a lot of man-handling. This was also one of the first I did.

Kitty cake

The 2nd cake...
This was the second cake I made, well technically the third I used fondant on but the 2nd I was proud of. I was amazed that the cake looked just like pictures I used to draw with colored pencils. I think this was the one that made me fall in love with this particular medium. I started painting with food coloring and it was so fun to watch it gain depth.
Now that I know what I'm doing a little more I would do things differently with this one, but it still looks pretty to me.

How it started...
This was my FIRST cake. I spent days and days on it and had no idea what I was doing. I didn't even know how to frost a cake properly, but it turned out pretty cute for a first timer and since then I've been the "designated birthday cake baker" for my entire family.
SUCH is life I suppose! I love it...
The dog cake
I liked this one. I used lots of creative leverage. I asked my friend to tell me about her partner and took all the info I knew and put it into the cake. It was one of the cakes I had the most fun on. I've had fun on all of them, but this one was special.
This was almost a year ago and they still have the dog in the freezer. That makes me smile.
